The time has come, I think.

I started this blog almost two years ago to the day, January 29, 2003. Blogger's profile pages are a little wonky, not having updated since November, but I figure even with my decreased output over the past couple of months, it's been close to 600 posts and 200,000 words on everything from politics to Pokémon, poetry to...ah, pumpkin seeds?

It's been fun, it's been educational, it's been great for keeping me writing, it's been great for simulating staying in touch with people, but lately, it's become more of an obligation than a joy. Some days, I actually feel guilty that I haven't posted anything in a while. It reminds me a bit of my first year or so on the poetry scene, when I dreaded missing an open mic or a slam for fear that the fickle scene would forget who I was and I'd be starting from scratch next time out. It's a trap that's easy to fall in to, as you start creating excuses to get on stage write about something you've already written about before, tweaking things a bit to justify the repetition.

It took me more than a year to fully separate myself from the poetry scene and I have no interest in dragging this blog out as long.

One of these days, I'm going to go through the archives and pull out my favorite posts and put them in a chapbook or something. For myself, mainly, as a reminder of the ups and downs I've been through over the past two years. Two good years, for the most part. For someone like me who remembers feelings more than details, works on instincts more than facts, it'll be the first time I'm able to look back on a period of time and not need the input of others to fill in the blanks.

It's been real, it's been fun, but the thrill is gone and it's time to move on.

Thanks for reading!

Peace,

You know you have problems when the news that someone is discontinuing their blog genuinely saddens you. Perhaps you could consider changing it into something else....alright, fine, maybe I do just need to let go...(sobs uncontrollably). I've always enjoyed reading yer blog. I suppose that this means that everyone gets bumped up one spot in my list of blogs to read. Does this mean the livejournal's getting scrapped too? Say it ain't so! I feel betrayed ;-)

Dude you are such a super drama queen. You aint going anywhere and even if you are then it is still more about the drama. You feel guitly if you don't blog?, so what a lot of us do, A blog is about writing shit and having other people read it. Friends keep in touch with eachother wihout actual conversations. Voyers read about strangers to satisfy some need or just to kill a bunch of time out of pure boredom. You might be one of the biggest Bloggers but that doesn't mean that this is some popularity contest or even comparable to the poetry scene. Lighten up dude just write when you feel like it and don't when you don't. See that works splendidly. Bloglines help with stuff like that too. So dude, leave the drama alone and just do what you feel, the big production spectacular isn't really all that needed.

Hi, Guy! It's Taylor. Sorry for being off message, but I lost your email address and figured this was as good a way to reach you as ever. Didn't you have a lead on a good screen printer once? Erik Daniel designed these great Urbana teeshirts with an Atari logo, and I'd love to buy a small run. Maybe 25. Any thoughts? Email me at taylor@taylormali.com.

I'm so sad, Guy. I love reading your blog. :( Hopefully I'll see you on Tuesday to try and reason with you for all of us who are addicted to reading your thoughts.
