You Say, "Promotion"; I Say, "No Vaseline?"

When is a promotion and an 11% raise an insult?

When you're still making less than the new hires with less experience and less responsibility.

I hate Corporate America!

And just because it's not American Express doesn't mean it doesn't suck.

Good night, Cleveland.

That happened to me! I got a 20% raise but since I was so underpaid, it just brought me up to what new hires were making with less experience (within the company) than me. The only way to get what you want is to leave the company, unfortunately.

Then again, maybe the new 'position' will make you like your job more... Hey, you never know...

That's part of the problem. It's not a new position. Simply an acknowledgement of what I've been doing for more than a year already, with a recently increased workload.

Don't hate it quite enough to look for something else, though. Job searches suck.

All I have to say that it doesn't hurt to look. You never know if there's something out there that you might like unless you check it out.

So now that you got this raise, does this mean drinks are on you next time we hang out?
